Lessons of Life (LOL)

They are not my lovers, But love me even more, They are not my family But all relations they restore. They are not jokers, But  can anytime make me snicker, They are not cops, But beat up my wrong doer. There are no teachers, But teach me life lessons, There are no jewels, But my most precious possessions. They are not stars, But glimmer in darkness, They are not rainbows, But all the colours they harness. They are not Gods, But take life decisions for me, They are not angels, but gift me true glee. They love me, Even when they shouldn't. They understand me, When I myself wouldn't. They encourage me, When my reasons to live die, They comfort me, When I fall apart and cry. My friends they are, Sticking together forever, I am always grateful to God for them, Can't survive without them ever. It all seemed like a war, Everyone has their strategies, We had ours too, And, the war has commenced. Never knew our enemies, Or who were our friends, Just trusted each other, And a few more souls. In the blink of an eye, Our scheming could revert, It could chase us for a hunt, And pin us down to defeat. Took our chances and risks, like, Looking at the morning sky, And hoping not to find a sun there, facing us. And, the God of Destruction, Destroyed all the probabilities, At other ends with us, Our risks were worth it. As we looked up right into, The eyes of the morning sky, The sun was clouded, It wasn't facing us. That's how our risks, Pushed us further, Pushed us closer, To our victorious land! But, a single moment, Could bring us to our knees, And, another soul, anytime, Could departure to heaven. I was alone in bed, laying down, in attention, like any soldier would stand in front of her major. I had my eyes shut  and not before long, I had almost gone into a delicate sleep after much waiting, when the soft sound of rustling leaves left me wide awake. At once, I sat up in my bed, seething with rage at the cheekiness of those leaves and soft breeze mingling! Their love story could wait, couldn't it! And, so, I made a beeline for the fir tree. It was Christmas and so, the only direction from where that kind of sound could come from was now right before me.
